What type of Artist/Maker are you?

Graphic Designer & Mixed Media Artist

How did you get started making/designing/etc?

I got started making and designing when my brother and I drew a book's worth of monsters, around the age of 9 or 10. The sequel was never released.

How long have you been selling your art/designing/etc?

About 15 years

Is making art a full time gig for you or a side hustle?

Making my own art to sell is a side hustle

Why are you a maker? What drives you to continue making?

I'm a maker because it's my preferred way to live. If I don't make something every day, I don't feel like myself. Having the ability to create and shape the world we live in is extremely powerful and exciting.

What is your favorite thing that you've created and sold at Worcester Wares?

Orson is my Home Bear

Do you make/sell other products that aren't sold at Worcester Wares? If so, tell us about what you make.

I have a collection of multi media art pieces and other non Worcester specific notebooks and stickers for sale on my website. I also co-host a podcast called Seltzer Time!

What is your maker process like?

Spontaneous, spastic, and served with coffee and/or seltzer.

Any upcoming products, projects, events, or goals for 2019?

Turn Hustle & Worc into way more than just 1 t-shirt design

If you could give advice to someone thinking about pursuing your type of craft what would you tell them?

It is extremely challenging, and requires massive amounts of discipline, and it's the most rewarding thing I can think of.

Tell us a weird/random/fun fact about yourself!

I was at Wayne Gretzky's last NHL game at Madison Square Garden

What is your connection to the city of Worcester? (Live here? Work here? Grew up here? etc)

My wife said we should consider Worcester when we bought our house, and after some coercion, she was absolutely right. I've been madly in love with this city since moving here 5 years ago.

One thing you LOVE about the city of Worcester.

I love the POW! WOW! Worcester art installations and what it does for the community. This city understand the importance of art and culture and a lot of people here are doing what they can to keep it alive and prospering.

One change you'd like to see in Worcester.

With all the changes coming, we have an opportunity to become an example city. Worcester could be the city that grows its population and economy without alienating and gentrifying the people and places that have been here already.
